When there is no article before the adjective, the adjective must show the gender/case information itself (strong endings).
Endings (strong declension)
| Case | maskulin | neutral | feminin | Plural |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nom. | frischer Kuchen | schönes Wetter | scharfe Wurst | heiße Würstchen |
| Akk. | frischen Kuchen | schönes Wetter | scharfe Wurst | heiße Würstchen |
| Dat. | frischem Kuchen | schönem Wetter | scharfer Wurst | heißen Würstchen |
| Gen. | frischen Kuchens | schönen Wetters | scharfer Wurst | heißer Würstchen |
Rule
The adjective "borrows" the ending from the definite article:

- bei dem Wetter → bei schönem Wetter
